Peter in at Morecambe

14th October 2013

It always a proud day when you ascend to the chair of any lodge but for Peter Jackson it must have been especially poignant as his son, and Senior Overseer, Lionel witnessed his installation into the chair of Morecambe Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 716.

Peter Jackson and Tony Harrison.

The new WM is well travelled having spent many years in the Merchant Navy before becoming an area chief lighthouse inspector in the Middle East. On retirement he sought the slightly cooler climes of Morecambe!
Outgoing WM Tom Reaney showed undoubted skill in the art of delegation as he asked Tony Harrison to conduct the ceremony.
John Shepherd, Ian Cottam and Jack Craig.
Keith Lamb and Malcolm Cambidge

John Wreyford represented the RW Provincial Grand Master and he was able to witness a delightful ceremony delivered with the panache and style you would expect from someone as experienced as Tony.
Tom was able to present John with a cheque for £500 in favour of the West Lancashire Mark Charity with the lodge having already donated £250 to the Heart Start appeal and £100 to the Fun Day.
Making his first visit as a WM was the newly installed John Shepherd of Jubilee Mark Lodge No 375. He was in company with Jack Craig WM of Garnett Mark Lodge No 146 and Ian Cottam WM of Furness Mark Lodge No 36.

The smooth running of the ceremony and installation meal bore testimony to the efforts of lodge Secretary Malcolm Cambidge and Director of Ceremonies Keith Lamb which ensured that the members and visitors enjoyed an excellent ceremony followed by an evening of good fellowship.
